Diamond Wedding Rings and Engagement Rings: Day of Switch-a-Roo

Many women have all sorts of conversations on the days and weeks leading up to their wedding day. Most of these conversations will be about dresses and flowers and shoes and makeup, but one conversation you should have before you exchange your diamond wedding rings is what to do with your engagement ring the day of your wedding. The wedding band is meant to be worn on your finger closest to your heart so it needs to go on first. Some brides choose to leave it at home while other brides want it to be a part of this big day. Whatever you choose is fine, just make sure you have a plan before you begin walking down the aisle.

Your first option is not to wear it at all to your wedding. This seems a little crazy because that diamond engagement rings greensboro, is the entire reason you are standing where you are standing, about to exchange your diamond wedding rings in the first place! This piece of jewelry got it all started so why not let it be a part of your big day? Additionally, many of your out-of-town friends and family probably have not seen “the ring,” so you should certainly want to show it off!

Now that the first option is off the table, your second option is to wear your engagement ring on your right hand until after the ceremony. This is a practical solution for a last minute decision. You can put on the engagement ring in the right position after the ceremony and no one will be any wiser. It may feel uncomfortable to have a ring on that finger, but that will also serve as a reminder to put the ring back on the proper finger.

Another option is to wear your engagement ring as you normally do and have your future husband slip the diamond wedding band on behind the engagement ring. This is fine, but after the ceremony you will have to switch the rings to put them in their proper location.

Yet another option is to give your engagement ring to a very (I mean VERY) trusted person to hold onto until after the ceremony. Then you can put it back on your finger where it is destined to stay. This frees up your left ring finger so he will have nothing to worry about as he slides the ring on your finger.
